Summary

The Wishetenes råd, first published in 1696, is a Swedish translation of the Les conseils de la sagesse (1677) by the French Jesuit Michel Boutauld (1625-1688), an anthology of quotations attributed to Solomon. The second edition (1707) adds an appendix containing eighty maxims from the Analects. These maxims were translated from the French La morale de Confucius, philosophe de la Chine (1688), which was itself a translation of the Latin Confucius Sinarum Philosophus (1687).
